This is the solution to my problem which I had with Drobo, I currently have a trouble ticket open with them and your situation looks similar. "Although I did try some of the tools that were recommended, non of them were able to recognize the Drobo properly.
Just leave me a comment here with any advice you have for big storage, and if I go with your suggestion I’ll cut you a 0 check for your time and research (I’m only doing this for one person, so if 50 people say “try dropbox” I’m only cutting one check to one person. I’ve been using drobos for a few years now, and have recommended them to a number of my personal friends.

I did, however, find another tool that was able to see the drive and its current file structure.
The tool is called Test Disk 6.13 ( Disk_Download), which is an open source program for all variants of Operating Systems.
The Recovery HD volume is approximately 650MB, so to create a new Recovery HD volume, you must choose a volume on your disk that has at least 1GB of free space available.
This documentation will refer to the chosen disk as the "donor" disk.
