Google drive not updating files

After you update the Drive app, if you haven't already downloaded the Google Docs and the Google Sheets apps, you'll be prompted to do so when you try to edit a Google Docs or Google Sheets document — though you can still view documents regardless.Interestingly, though, it seems that we were able to still open and edit native Microsoft and files that were uploaded to Google Drive natively within the Drive app.

If you delete a file in Google Drive on the web, it moves to the Trash or Recycle Bin on your local machine.

Following that I have tried to install instead/in addition the plugin version.

Again it has installed so that I can see the icon but I cannot login to the account.

Anyway, my team is trying to use Google Drive like Dropbox, where multiple people are editing files shared amongst them through the desktop, such as images.

Dropbox is really good at noticing when a checksum for a file is changed, and syncing it.
